Crib tournament

June 23 Kentville Legion crib tournament. Registration 12:30 p.m., play begins at 1 p.m. $20 per team.

June 23 Fundraiser BBQ, Sobeys New Minas, 8 a.m. to closing to help purchase a mobility scooter for Jeanie Viner.

June 23 Benefit merchandise bingo, 12:45 p.m., West Brooklyn Community Centre for Joe, Star and Cheryl Atwell who lost furniture and clothing in a house fire.

June 23 Benefit Show and Auction, bake table, talent by David Arenburg, Connie Stokes, Gerald and Elsie Wood, Make Mine Country, Hal DeAdder. Canteen, 50/50. Wolfville Lions Hall, 7 p.m. Proceeds to the family of the late Ernie Dorian medical expenses.

June 23  Variety Show Fund Raiser at the Gaspereau Community Hall, 7 p.m. Canteen, hot dogs, pop, tea and coffee available. Bake table and 50/50.  Talent by Harold Hunt, Kings Fiddlers, Don Feltmate and Charleton Levy . All proceeds to the Atwell Family.

June 23 Forties Community Centre, 4-6 p.m. Baked Beans, salads, casseroles, pies for dessert. Adults $10; children six to 12,  $5; preschoolers, free. Proceeds for St. Augustine Anglican and Forties United Baptist Churches.

June 23 Turkey Supper, 4-6 p.m., at the Aylesford Fire Hall, $10 per plate. Takeout available. Proceeds to the Aylesford Firefighters Auxilary

June 24 Fundraising roast pork supper. Berwick Legion. 5 p.m. One sitting. Music by Sixty Plus. $12.50 per person. Reserve: 538-3361 by June 19.


Church Service

June 24 At 10 a.m., the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, is celebrating its final service in its current building. Special music and speakers, sharing of stories and memories followed by a potluck luncheon in the church hall. All are welcome.

June 24 Hymn Sing, 7 p.m., at The Forest Hill Baptist Church. Special Guest will be Lawrencetown Choir, with Rev. Manthorne leading the Hymn Sing. Refreshments will be served.

June 24 Inter-Denominational Baccalaureate Service for graduates of NKEC at 6:30 p.m. St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Canning. Service led by graduate students.  A freewill offering to support the NKEC Breakfast Program. Reception follows.



June 27 Wolfville L’Arche Homefires’ annual general meeting, 7p.m., at St. John’s Anglican Church Hall in Wolfville.

Birds at Blomidon

June 27  Birding for beginners. 9 a.m. Bring binoculars , appropriate footwear, bring a picnic and stay for lunch. Meet at visitor parking, top of the hill.  Info: 582-7319 or




June 27 Strawberry Supper, 4:30-6 p.m. at the North Alton Community Hall.  Adults $10; children (six to 12) $4; five and under free. Coldplate, strawberries, cakes, tea, coffee and juice. Take outs available – drop in order.



June 28 Probus Club of Annapolis Valley meeting, Bluenose Room, Kings Riverside Court, 125 Webster Street, Kentville, 10 a.m.  Probus is an association of active retirees.



June 30 Pancake breakfast 7-10 a.m. at the Hall's Harbour Fire Hall, 3586 Hwy 359, Hall's Harbour. Freewill offering.



June 30 Burlington Baptist Church Hall strawberry shortcake tea, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Freewill offering. Crafts, yard sale, bake table for Sunday school.




June 30 First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Upper Canard, annual strawberry supper, 4:30- 6:30 p.m.

Homemade potato salad plate with strawberry short cake. Adults $10, under 10 $5, preschoolers free. Wheelchair accessible, take-outs available. 582-7364



June 30 Benefit show 1-4 p.m. at the Kentville Lions Hall, freewill offering at the door. 50/50 and auction, local talent. Proceeds to help send Jordan O’Neil to volunteer in the Canada World Youth exchange program.



July 1 Inaugural Service of Orchard Valley United Baptist Church, 10 a.m., at the Evangeline Middle School, Commercial St., New Minas. Fellowship to follow at the school; meet and greet friends from amalgamating churches.


Canada Day

July 1 Canada Day celebrations in Hall's Harbour - food, events for the whole family, including gospel concert, community yard sale, etc., fireworks at dusk.


Ticket Auction

July 1 Giant Ticket Auction at Fundy View Community Hall, 4120 Hwy, 359 Hall's Harbour. Viewing at 10 a.m., draws begin at 1 p.m. Canteen on site. Wheelchair accessible



July 1 Italian sausage and hot dog barbecue on the wharf at Hall's Harbour, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., to benefit the Jenny White Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Tax receipts for donations over $10.


Recreation Camp

July 3-4 Take PART adapted recreation camp, ages 8-20, for children and youth with physical and cognitive disability, their friends and siblings  at the New Minas Baptist church, 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.  

Registration fee of $10 and a $5 fee for every additional sibling.



July 7 Lobster Supper, sponsored by the Berwick United Church Stewarts, at the Anglian Church Hall, 248 Commercial St., Berwick, 6-7 p.m.  Tickets purchased in advance $25, call 538-9257 or 538-9251.
