Merritt nods for Kings County shows

Lysistrata is up for five nominations, including for Leesa Hamilton's costuming.

When Theatre Nova Scotia announced its 2013 Robert Merritt Award nominations last week, two theatre companies in Kings County were on the list.

Two Planks and a Passion Theatre at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts picked up five nominations for Lysistrata. In addition to a nomination for best production, Graham Percy is up for supporting actor, Ken Schwartz for direction, Leesa Hamilton for costumes and Allen Cole for original composition.

Andrea Lee Norwood was nominated for her demanding role in Educating Rita at Valley Summer Theatre in Wolfville. That production also garnered a nomination for Janet MacLellan in costume design.

The Nova Scotia theatre awards will be presented March 25 in Halifax.
