The Weymouth team won the Nova Scotia provincials Sept. 2 to 4 in Dartmouth and is now is headed to Summerside on PEI to vie for the Atlantic title this weekend.
Weymouth beat Halifax 7-6 on Sept. 2 in their first game at provincials. Elizabeth Gavel was player of the game.
Saturday morning Weymouth beat Yarmouth 11-6 and then lost to Hammonds Plains 10-6 that afternoon to end the round robin with a 2-1 record.
Lathan Robinson was player of the game against Yarmouth and Jacobie Ford was PoG against Hammonds Plains.
The Firebirds met Dartmouth Sept. 4 in the semifinal game and hammered them 11-1. James Sabine was player of the game.
Weymouth met up with Yarmouth again in a nail biter of a final. Weymouth squeaked out a 6-5 win at the top of the seventh. Jack Mullen was player of the game and Jacobie Ford was named player of the tournament.
Only the provincial champions of NS, NB, NL and PEI advance to Atlantics plus the Summerside host team.
Weymouth plays their first game at 3 p.m. on Sept. 17. They have two games Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and one more Sunday at 9 a.m.
The tiebreaker or championship is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with an extra championship game scheduled for 3 p.m. if necessary.
