Layton Cuvilier of the Kentville peewee Wildcats earned a save June 8, then followed up with a winning game as the team swept Tri-County in a doubleheader.

Team Atlantic, with Micah McDowell and Layton Cuvilier of the Kentville peewee AAA Wildcats on the roster, was off to an 0-2 start at the Baseball Canada 13-U championships in London, ON.

Team Atlantic played its tournament opener Thursday, Aug 21 against the Quebec 2 team and ended up on the short end of a 16-3 score.

McDowell, playing shortstop, batted four times in the game. He had one hit, a double, stole a base and scored a run. Cuvilier, who saw action at first base and in left field, was hitless in two at-bats.

Friday morning, Team Atlantic lost a close 10-9 decision to Ontario. McDowell was the starting pitcher and went four innings, allowing eight runs, and took the loss.

Cuvilier pitched the rest of the game in relief, allowing three hits and two runs in two innings pitched. Both Kentville players were hitless in two at-bats.

Team Atlantic was back in action Friday at 3 p.m. against British Columbia. The tournament continues through Aug. 25.
