Head coach Steve Melanson was impressed by his team's defensive effort against a potent Cole Harbour offence.

"That team put up 46 points against J.L. Ilsly. That team put up 49 points against other teams. They only put up 16 against us, and we got two safetys, so our defence did really well, and I'm happy all the way around."

Melanson had praise for several players after the game including his quarterback, running back and the entire offensive line. In particular, the coach lauded Callum Shaw, who played defensive tackle and fullback, for his willingness to step up and take on new responsabilities.

"This was the first time he ever played fullback," says Melanson. "We practised this week, and he did it without hesitation."

Simmonds says hard work from all of his teammates got Horton the win.

"Blocks were perfect," says Simmonds. "Everything came together."

Horton advances to the provincial final on Nov. 19 at Huskies Stadium at Saint Mary's University in Halifax against Halifax West. Kick off is at 1 p.m.
