Alex King, Logan Cleveland have huge six-goal weekend for Avon River Rats

WINDSOR, N.S. — After registering three consecutive wins over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Avon River Rats are in a good position to take on the Spryfield Attack Oct. 14.

Entering the game, Spryfield has a record of 4-1-0 while the River Rats stand at 4-3-0 in the Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League.

Following the Oct. 14 game, the River Rats will be making their third trip of the season to Eastern Shore on Oct. 21. On Oct. 29, the River Rats greet the Eastern Shore Thunder for a 7 p.m. start.

The River Rats handily won the three games held over the Thanksgiving weekend. Here's how they fared.

 

River Rats 10, Cumberland-Colchester Colts 4

The Avon River Rats blew the game with the Colts wide open with a six-goal second period in Truro Oct. 6. They held a 9-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Logan Cleveland tallied four goals for the River Rats and added an assist while Kyle Armsworthy scored a pair and added two assists. Tyler Comeau also had a great game, scoring once and assisting on four others for a five point night. Other goal scorers were Ben White-Davidson, Adam Ferguson and Devon Pennell.

 

River Rats 7, East Hants Ryson Construction Penguins 2

The River Rats wasted no time breaking open their Oct. 7 game against the Penguins, registering a 4-0 lead after the first period.

The star of this game was Alex King who rifled home five goals. The remaining two goals were scored by Cleveland.

 

River Rats 4, Cumberland-Colchester Colts 1

King added his sixth goal of the weekend in the second period of play for the River Rats Oct. 8 while Justin MacLellan, Armsworthy and Josh Demont tallied singles.
