Avalanche players battle for control of the puck. They dominated the play against the Park View Panthers in the first period of playoff hockey action Feb. 27.

Kyle Pellegrini started in goal for the Avalanche and played a steady game as his team took period leads of 1-0 and 3-1.

Veteran Tyler Lapierre scored twice for the Avalanche with newcomers to the team this season Liam Parker and Liam Kelly adding single markers.

Avon View played near perfect positional play after one or two chances from turning the game into a rout.  The Avalanche coaching staff have been impressed with Parker's play in the early season and say they’re expecting him to be a top goal scorer for the Avalanche during this 2015-2016 season.

Friday's game was a hard-hitting physical battle, but Manager Scott Lloy said, "he anticipates the Avalanche will play that brand of hockey this season in securing wins on the ice."

Like Friday night in Berwick, the score at the end of the opening two periods was 1-0 and 3-1, but this time the Avalanche were on the losing side.

It was a different start to the game at Centennial Arena in Kentville, as six players showed up ten minutes into game after a hard fought day of Western Zone Provincial Baseball Playoffs and a long drive from Barrington.

Liam Parker scored his second of the year for the Avalanche in a losing cause, while Liam Porter added the second Avalanche goal.

The game was hard fought from beginning to end while Avon View found their legs in the second half of the game, but could not buy the equalizing marker.

The Avalanche have an early, hectic schedule as they travel to Bridgetown for a game this Saturday evening.

When asked about this game, Manager Lloy said "it was a year ago we went into Bridgetown thinking we were ready and perhaps a little too overconfident and we lost one of our six regulation league games all season."

“we will be far more cautious this Saturday night and we will be ready to play," Lloy said.

The Avalanche stay on the road the weekend of Oct. 22-25, when they play in the Annual West Kings Wolverines High School Tournament at Credit Union Centre in Kingston.

Their first regular scheduled home game is Saturday Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. against the North East Kings Titans but team management is still considering a game for Saturday, October 31, Halloween Night at Exhibition Arena but nothing had been confirmed as of this writing.

The ice is expected to be in Hants Exhibition Arena between Oct 23 and 25.
