Former hockey Axemen to be inducted into Acadia Hockey Honour Roll

WOLFVILLE - Former hockey Axemen player and current head coach Darren Burns (Class of 1995) heads a list of four 2014 inductees to the Acadia Hockey Honour Roll.

Burns, who played for the Axemen from 1990-1995 and has been the Acadia head coach since 2001, also served as an assistant coach with the 1995-1996 national champion Axemen. He was a player on the 1992-1993 national champions.

Joining him with be former teammates Kevin Knopp (Class of 1995) and Dennis Sproxton (Class of 1998) as well as Paul Bailey (Class of 1975).

Knopp, a defenseman and Sproxton, a goalie, were both prominent members of the 1992-1993 national champions.

The Acadia Hockey Honour Roll indiction will take place as part of a luncheon Nov. 8 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheldon L. Fountain Learning Commons on the Acadia campus.

Inductees, invited guests, members of the 2014-15 Axemen hockey team and the Acadia hockey community will come together to celebrate the contribution these individuals have made.
