Hockey Axemen win second straight, 3-2 over Moncton

WOLFVILLE - The Acadia hockey Axemen made use of some late lightning to edge the Moncton Aigles Bleus 3-2 Oct. 25 at the Andrew H. McCain Arena.

Trailing 2-0 early the the third period, the Axemen struck back with three unanswered goals in the space of 6:19 to secure the victory.

Zach Franko got Acadia on the board with an even-strength goal at 5:18 of the third, with Brett Thompson and Tyler Ferry picking up assists, to make it 2-1 Moncton.

Mike Cazzola then tied the score at 11:11 on the power play, on a nice set-up by Matt Pufahl. Chris Owens also picked up an assist.

Then just 26 seconds later, Sam Fioretti netted the eventual game-winner at 11:37, assisted by Travis Gibbons and Franko, giving the Acadia its first lead of the game.

Alain Saulnier opened the scoring for the Aigles Bleus on the power play at 18:19 of the first period. It remained 1-0 until Christopher Guay put a shot from the point past Brandon Glover at 1:04 of the third.

The Axemen won their second game of the weekend to improve their regular season record to 5-1. Final shots on goal were 35-27 in favour of Acadia.
