Horton girls, NKEC boys play for provincial D-2 hockey banners

KINGSTON - The Horton Griffins will play for the D-2 girls' hockey banner March 28 in Kingston. Meanwhile, the NKEC boys will play for their provincial title March 28 on the Eastern Shore.

On day two of the D-2 girls' provincials March 28 in Kingston, Middleton topped Hants East 3-1 and Yarmouth defeated Bridgetown 12-5 in the final two round robin games.

In the semifinals, Yarmouth eliminated host West Kings by a 6-2 score, and in the late semifinal, Horton defeated Middleton 7-1.

Horton and Yarmouth will meet for the provincial championship March 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Credit Union Centre in Kingston.

At the D-2 boys' provincials in Musquodoboit Harbour, host Hants East blanked Yarmouth 4-0 and NKEC edged Dalbrae 4-3 in a shootout in the final two round robin games March 28.

In the semifinals, Eastern Shore edged Central Kings 2-1, and NKEC topped Hants East 5-2. NKEC and Eastern Shore will meet for the provincial title March 29 at 1 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Arena.
