The NKEC Titans player Bryce Dauphinee snapped a 2-2 tie with 4:33 to play in the third period, logging lots of ice time throughout the game.
A large crowd came out to watch the game, many holding signs and cheering on the players.
Dan Lord with the Avalanche picked up a rebound in the first period during a 5 on 3 power play, tying up the game early on.
In the second period, the Avalanche went in front 2-1 thanks to a hard wrist shot from Nick Gerhardt before Blackett tied it at 2-2 with the Avalanche being down two players.
Much of the game was back and forth, with lots of penalties and infractions on both sides.
The opening five minutes of the third period were particularly troublesome, with more whistles for off side and icing than usual.
"The Avalanche's 0-2-1 start to the season is without a doubt disappointing,” Avon View Head Coach Mark Tye said following the game. “We have played Northeast twice and Horton once and both teams are top quality clubs and all three games have been decided by one goal.”
“We have to become more disciplined with our play because we are simply taking too many needless penalties,” he said. “This issue will be addressed at practice this coming week.”
Upcoming Games
The Avalanche are back in action Nov. 5 in a 7:00 p.m. start at home against the Central Kings Gators.
They will also play in the 25th Annual Birthplace of Hockey High School Tournament in Windsor and Newport from Nov. 10-13 before returning to play in the Valley League with an away game in Bridgetown Nov. 18 and Horton back in Windsor for a 7:00 p.m. start on Nov. 19.
