This past weekend saw the last weekend of regular games in the league. Going into the weekend Acadia sat in first place with Yarmouth in second. Only 10 points separated the second-place and fifth-place teams in the league, which has made for a competitive league throughout the season.
Yarmouth started the year with just three returning players from last year’s bantam AA squad.
“This team has come a long way all season. We’re in the top tier of our league. We’re hoping for a good showing at the tournament,” said head coach Nick Bourque..
Asked about the team’s strengths, Bourque said it is the players’ never give up attitude.
“We have a lot of heart,” he said. “We’ve been down in a lot of games and have come back.”
Aside from good hockey, this weekend’s tournament will be good for the local economy. The team’s parents are responsible for the organization of the tournament. Bourque says they have a good team both on and off the ice.
