Peggy Kenny and Laura Reid, both of whom golf out of Ken-Wo in New Minas, led the field at the end of the day with a score of two-over-par 74.
Kenny and Reid combined for a round that included two birdies and four bogies to finish three strokes ahead of runners-up Tamara Rent and Venita Theriault.
A highlight of the tournament was playing partners Marg Jollimore of Oakfield and Susan Creelman from Truro both shooting holes-in-one during the tournament.
Jollimore and Creelman started their day on the 10th tee. Jollimore aced the sixteenth hole, and Creelman carded the team’ second hold-in-one on the fifth hole.
Reid, who most locally will know better by her maiden name Harris, has returned to competitive golf this year following an absence of three years.
Her first competitive action of the season was at the Nova Scotia Women’s Amateur July 3-5 at Northumberland, where she placed sixth overall with a 249 score. Kenny also played in that tournament, finishing eighth overall at 282.
This was Reid’s second tournament win since her return. She and her husband Dave Reid teamed up to capture the Ken-Wo mixed club championship July 19 with a round of 69.
Between 2003 and 2009, Reid won four provincial junior championships, including three in a row from 2003-2005, and three provincial women’s amateur titles.
In 2004 and 2007, she won the women’s amateur and junior girls’ titles in the same year.
In addition to her three provincial amateur titles, she was runner-up on three other occasions, in 2005. 2008 and 2011, and placed third in 2013.
All the top female golfers in Nova Scotia are gearing up for the 2016 Canadian Ladies’ Amateur, which will be hosted by Ken-Wo next July.
