Seven members from the club, and assistant coach Mikayla Latimer, recently travelled to a tournament in Fredericton.  Karen Townsend, the club's treasurer, say that it is a much smaller group than the club usually sends to an event, but the modest delegation really packed a punch.

All seven participants brought home medals, much to the delight of head sensei Charlene Oliver.

“I was so impressed. I was just on the edge of my seat,” said Oliver.

The 10-year-old club only resumed training in September after a summer break. Club president Matthew Peddle said this type of result was exceptional for this early in the year.

To date, the club has 54 members from the age of two and up, but they are always happy to see new faces. They meet on Tuesday and Thursday evening at the AVM Morfee Centre at 14 Wing Greenwood.

Hachikin's next tournament will be on Nov. 28 in New Glasgow, when Kanokai Judo Club hosts provincials.
