Wolfville Tritons, Greenwood Dolphins bring home hardware from junior swim provincials

KINGS COUNTY - The Wolfville Tritons and Greenwood Dolphins both brought home medals from the Swim Nova Scotia short course junior provincials held Feb. 12-14 in Truro.

Twelve Wolfville swimmers and three from Greenwood attended the three-day meet, the top provincial short course event of the season for junior-level swimmers.

The Valley swimmers combined for nine medals in individual events plus two more in relays.

For the Tritons, Sean Vibert swam to a first-place finish in 100 freestyle. Vibert was also fourth in 200 freestyle and sixth in 50 breaststroke.

Michelle Song was second in 100 breast and third in 200 breast, and also had a fourth-place finish in 50 breast.

Daniel Jurt was second in 800 free, fourth in 50 ’fly, fifth in 400 free, sixth in 100 free and seventh in 50 back.

Andrew Archibald was third in 200 back, fourth in both 50 and 100 back, and sixth in 200 IM. Sarah Park was third in 200 ’fly, fifth in 100 ’fly and seventh in 50 ’fly.

Celeste Mol was fourth in 200 breast and sixth in 200 IM. Jane Leschied was fifth in 50 ‘fly and eighth in both 400 free and 100 breast.

Brittany Guiney Yallop was sixth in both 200 breast and 100 ’fly. Maggie Graves was seventh in 200 breast, and Chantal Mason was eighth in 200 IM.

A mixed 4X50 freestyle relay team from Wolfville, made up of Andrew Archibald, Michelle Song, Celeste Mol and Sean Vibert placed second, earning silver medals.

A girls’ 4x50 freestyle relay team of Chantal Mason, Sarah Park, Brittany Guiney-Yallop and Jane Leschied placed third in their event, earning bronze medals.

For the Dolphins, Julie Hotton was first in 200 butterfly for her age group. Hotton was also fourth in 50 and 100 ’fly, sixth in 100 breast and eighth in 50 breast.

Adelaide Riswold of the Dolphins was second in 800 free, third in 200 back, fourth in 100 back and seventh in 400 free. The third Greenwood swimmer, Luke Robert, was fourth in 200 back, sixth in 50 ’fly and seventh in 50 back.
