The Northeast Kings girls’ team hosted École secondaire de Clare for its first home game of the season Sept. 19 and dominated the play for an 8-2 win.

“We are very pleased with the young team,” said Sanford.

The team is mostly made up of younger players and has 13 Grade 9 and 10 students, he added.

“We work hard to play a possession game,” he said. “We have a lot of very strong young players and good leadership from our two Grade 12 students, Emma Taylor and Claire Belliveau.”

Kate Burris led scoring for NKEC with four goals, while Emelie Bennett scored twice. Rachel Wadden and Mackenzie Braun each scored once.

NKEC will next host Annapolis West Education Centre on the Canning fields on Sept. 28. Game time is at 4:30 p.m.
