Back in April the cidery won six awards in the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition. Owners Sean Myles and Gina Haverstock only entered six ciders.
They also entered the national WineAlign competition, which was judged locally and included cider for the first time.
Looking ahead to the results being released in July, Myles said, “we're very keen to hear how we did.”
The popular Annapolis Cider has three offerings every day, but now also has a creative series, a heritage apple series and a collectors’ series stocked in an expanded retail area.
Myles says the Main Street cidery has grown by about 50 per cent since last year. Melanie Eelman, who has a Ph’D in chemistry, makes the cider in all its incarnations.
The heirloom series is available across the province at the NSLC and private stores. The speciality ciders should be on tap in Halifax soon.
