BERWICK - A computer repair and services shop in the Annapolis Valley has earned some high praise from US-based tech giant Apple.

GekkoTech Computer Services owner Jason Schofield recently learned that the small business he runs in his hometown of Berwick is now one of only two Atlantic Canadian locations awarded the Apple Premium Service Provider distinction for 2018.

The nod from Apple recognizes exemplary service GekkoTech offered throughout 2017. “They measure how well you’re doing repairs based on turnaround time, the number of parts per repair and customer satisfaction,” said Schofield, who checked his Apple ratings on a monthly basis to ensure he continued to meet the requirements of a premium service provider. Schofield was particularly pleased to see that customers took the time to provide positive feedback to help GekkoTech achieve top ratings from Apple.

“It was great,” he said.

“You feel appreciated that both the community and Apple are recognizing you.”

The two-person service and retail operation has steadily grown its customer base thanks, in large part, to word of mouth and repeat customers, Schofield said.

“Business is great. We’re getting lots of customers from all around Nova Scotia.”

Popular services include Mac and iPhone repairs, and the selection of iPhone cases in the retail display regularly draws customers to the shop located in a business plaza off of Commercial Street. With Berwick situated between the shopping destinations of Greenwood and New Minas, Schofield is confident the business he launched in October 2015 is well positioned for the future.

“I just plan on continuing to offer great service and growing our customer base,” he said.
