BERWICK - Hello Handmade has outgrown its original location on Commercial Street.

The boutique featuring an assortment of products created by talented local crafters moved to 134 Union Street in early March.

“Moving to a bigger space gives me more opportunity to grow as a business. I’m starting to do workshops,” said Hello Handmade owner Angie Dorey, who runs the shop along with a full-time business manager.

The larger space, complete with a commercial kitchen, gives Dorey an opportunity to make her sought-after Hello Handmade bath and body products on site. It also allows for room to host workshops with vendors interested in having engaging and interactive sessions with the general public.

“It’s opened up a lot more opportunities. I have four times the amount of vendors,” said Dorey.

“I want to work with all of the entrepreneurs in Berwick… we’re popping up everywhere. We’re all trying to make a living and I just really want to build people up.”

The move to a bigger location also resulted in the addition of seating, a reading area for children and the Loose Leaf Tea Bar, which features gluten-free snacks.

Dorey sees Hello Handmade increasingly becoming a place where people gather to shop, chit-chat and create within a community she proudly calls her hometown.

“I wanted to have more of a community feel and I couldn’t offer that in the smaller spot,” she said.

“It’s just a lot more family friendly.”

The new store opened March 10, and Dorey is thrilled to report that customers and vendors alike are embracing the expansion.

“It’s been a whirlwind ever since,” she said.

Hello Handmade is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
