KENTVILLE – Kentville has a new shop, and its owner is in the business of making people look really good.

Liz Huntley has opened LIV Fashion Boutique at 294 Main Street. She decided to open the store inside a house she owns with her husband, where their scuba shop business was formerly located.

It’s a property with history that’s taken on a new design, and a new mission, according to Huntley – to make people look and feel fabulous in what they are wearing.

“I love,” – Huntley draws that out for several seconds – “getting people into fashion. I love it, and I love fashion myself. This is a place where people can get some retail therapy,” she says.

The shop also features a round display table right as customers walk into the store. Huntley says the table is always stocked with the shop’s latest arrivals, and that “you never know” what it’ll feature the following week.

Before the shop opened its doors Oct. 16, Huntley set out with her husband and friends to give the house a new look. Large windows were installed, and other small adjustments made to “give it that boutique-y feel,” she says.

The shop carries clothing she describes as “warm, casual, every-day wear” items, many of which are priced within a $50 to $60 price range. It also features eye-catching items like funky socks and warm scarves.

As customers enter the shop, they’re struck by a large round table in its middle that currently showcases the socks and their funkiness.

“The table is meant for anything that’s going on that’s new and fresh. Last week, it was sweaters, hats and gloves. This week, socks. Next week? You never know,” laughs Huntley.

Huntley is from Kentville and says the move back to her hometown was one that made sense for personal and professional reasons. She says other retail boutiques in town are not competition, but rather partners in creating a “nice shopping district” that will make people excited to shop in Kentville again.

The shop offers clothing Huntley describes as “warm, casual” and at a good price-point. Sizes range from 0 to 3XL.

“This town is a great place, and a lot of awesome businesses are here. I love that we’re complimenting the area nicely, and that Kentville is growing – I want to be a part of that,” says Huntley.

Huntley says seeing women coming into her store and finding pieces that work for them, and that they love is why she loves running a retail business. It’s a job she describes as fun, and one she says she’s grateful for.

Huntley says she came up with the boutique’s name through her own inspiration to live life to the fullest, and that there is always a way to make your day better – including dressing the part.

“Life might not be perfect, but your outfit can be,” she laughs.

The shop is currently open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and closed Sundays. Parking spots will soon be painted along Main Street by the store, but customers are still able to park between the shop and the church.
