WINDSOR, N.S. — Visitors to King’s-Edgehill School's Fountain Performing Arts Centre in Windsor this month are in for a spooky surprise.

Quick As A Wink Theatre has transformed the stage into Victorian-era London and actors are ready to provide the audience with an otherworldly experience.

Quick As A Wink Theatre Society is presenting Dracula, written by Steven Dietz, based on the novel by Bram Stoker.

This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Stoker's classic novel to the stage.

As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances — in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humour and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker's famous vampire.

“I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you.”

Under the direction of David Myles (The Mousetrap, Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery) and Lilly Ashdown (directorial debut), Dracula features local talent and returning Quick As A Wink actors, including Ryan MacNab (Legally Blonde) as Dracula , David Foley (Faith County II, Oliver!, Legally Blonde) as Seward, Andy Ashdown (Faith County II) as Harker, Jeannie Myles (Seussical, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress) as Lucy, Erica Fitzgerald (Legally Blonde) as Mina, Mike Butler (The Drowsy Chaperone, Don’t Dress for Dinner, director for Shrek and Grease) as Renfield, Ally Loiselle (Seussical, The Little Mermaid) and Nicole Saulnier (Shrek, Legally Blonde) as vixens, Ashley Wood (The Mousetrap) and Carl Wills (A Christmas Carol) as attendants, and, in his QAAW debut, Ian Grainger as Van Helsing.

The show opens this weekend — Oct. 18-20 — and wraps up Oct. 25-26. There will be nightly performances Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 7 p.m., with a special 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 20 and Oct. 26. Tickets cost $20 for an adult; $16 for a student or senior. The show is PG-13; viewer discretion is advised as some scenes may be scary.

Tickets can be purchased online at QAAW.ca or by visiting The Spoke and Note in Windsor.
