ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, N.S. — Dozens of artists from across Nova Scotia broke out their easels, paints, and pastels for a weekend of plein air painting in Annapolis Royal.

Artists picked their spots and put paint to canvas as locals and visitors alike looked on in awe. The event, Aug. 17 and 18, is an annual fundraiser for the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council with paintings sold immediately or auctioned off each day at the local Legion.

“This popular event draws onlookers and art buyers from around Atlantic Canada and beyond,” ARCAC said on its website. “Emerging and established artists from across Nova Scotia find a special spot that inspires them to paint, sculpt, carve, photograph, or sketch.”

We stopped by on Aug. 17 to see how the creative juices were flowing.
