KENTVILLE, N.S. — It’s a night devoted to discovery at the Kings County Museum in Kentville with “The Great Kings Historical Society Show and Tell”.
Curator Bria Stokesbury said the historical society hosts the show and tell once a year and it tends to be one of the most popular monthly meetings. Society members and members of the general public show up with interesting items or stories to share.
“You never know what somebody is going to walk through the door with,” Stokesbury said.
People can bring treasured family heirlooms that they want to share the story behind. Occasionally, people bring objects that they can’t identify. They look to the collective wisdom of the society to see if someone can offer some clarification.
Stokesbury said it doesn’t necessarily have to be an object or artifact. Sometimes people bring genealogical stories to share, such as bits of family history, or local photos of a historical nature.
Kings Historical Society president Kelly Bourassa, a trained conservator, will be on hand for the evening to answer questions and offer advice about the proper care of certain objects or artifacts.
The event takes place at the Kings County Museum at 37 Cornwallis St., Kentville, on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Stokesbury said the society would be having a short business meeting, followed by the show and tell and social time with refreshments.
