Greenwood Players delight with Beauty and the Beast

GREENWOOD, N.S. – Laughter filled the room as the Greenwood Players Theatre Group entertained a captivated audience with a showing of Beauty and the Beast Dec. 9.

The pantomime had more than a few amusing plot twists as the evil sprite Belladonna, who was welcomed to the stage by a cascade of boos from the audience throughout the performance, repeatedly attempted to intervene in a budding romance that was destined to grow with the help of a few seeds planted by the good fairy, Rose.

With the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast adapted to feature the hijinks of quirky housekeeper Lucy Lastic (Joey Lajoie) and Beauty’s nutty suitors, Crispin Cutherbert-Smythe (Bliss Om Rae) and Roderick Ruff-Diamond (Ryan Hebert), audiences were in for a treat at Greenwood’s Morfee Centre from Dec. 5-9.

The show was directed by Pat Luoma, with Jeffrey Pocock serving as artistic director and Katherine Stevens working as stage manager.
