NORTHVILLE, NS - It’s a way to incorporate the agricultural heritage of the Annapolis Valley into Apple Blossom Festival celebrations.

 

The Northville Farm Heritage Centre hosted its ninth annual Apple Blossom Festival Antique Tractor Pull and Show on May 28. The event featured several pre-1965 tractors with operators competing in various classes to see who could pull a weighted sleigh the farthest.

First place in the 6,000-pound class went to Robert Foley with his pull of 265 feet, seven inches on a 1958 460 International. Second place went to Charles Keddy with a pull of 181 feet, four inches, on a Fordson Major. Third place went to Lynn Withrow with her pull of 174 feet, nine inches, on a Cockshutt 30.

Clayton Schofield competes in the 6,000-pound class at the Northville Farm Heritage Centre’s annual Apple Blossom Festival Antique Tractor Pull and Show on May 28. Driving a 1948 Cockshutt 30, he pulled for 159 feet, two inches on this run.

 

Tim Griffiths competes in the 6,000-pound class at the Northville Farm Heritage Centre’s annual Apple Blossom Festival Antique Tractor Pull and Show on May 28. Driving a 1963 Farmall 504, he pulled for 165 feet, nine inches on this run.

Driving a Fordson Major, he pulled for 181 feet, four inches on this run. It was good enough to take second place in the 6,000 pound class.
