CLOUD LAKE – The search for Burpee Leslie Banks has ended on a tragic note.
Divers with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located Banks’ body in the lake shortly before 5:30 p.m. April 14. He had been missing since April 13.
RCMP detachments from Kings and Annapolis counties responded after a concerned citizen reported finding an abandoned boat in the water at the lake, which is located south-east of Torbrook. Police determined that the boat belonged to Banks.
“A search of the lake and surrounding areas began overnight with RCMP being assisted by several Fire Departments and Ground Search and Rescue teams,” reads an RCMP media release issued in the evening April 14.
“The RCMP would like to thank the public and our partner agencies for their assistance. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Banks during this difficult time.”
