MORRISTOWN, N.S. – An eight-year-old boy is on life-support after sustaining injuries in a lawn tractor accident on Feb. 3 in Morristown.
An RCMP release says the boy was driving a lawn tractor near a home on Canaan Road at about 4 p.m. when the accident happened. The release does not specify how it occurred.
RCMP say two adults and two police officers administered first aid at the scene and were assisted by volunteer firefighters who arrived shortly after.
EHS then arrived on scene and provided aid until the boy was transported via LifeFlight to hospital in Halifax.
RCMP have now been notified that the boy is on life-support so that his organs can be donated.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, and have confirmed they do not consider the matter suspicious at this time.
An online fundraiser in memory of the boy was launched on Tuesday.
"Walker was an outgoing farm boy who always had a smile on his face; he would help you with anything you need and loved life to the fullest," reads the description on the GoFundMe page.
"He loved anything with an engine, as his dad Sam is a mechanic and passed on his love for the sport. He also shared the love of horses with his mother Tamara, as he was so kind hearted towards animals."
The online campaign had raised $14,000 of its $50,000 goal by Wednesday morning.
