NEW MINAS, NS – A black bear has been sighted roaming close to a residential area on Highbury Road.

The Kings District RCMP is advising the public that on May 10 at approximately 10:50 p.m., police responded to a complaint about a large black bear wandering through a residential area on Highbury Road in New Minas. The bear was last spotted entering a wooded area northwest of Bishop Street.

The Kings District RCMP is reminding the general public to be vigilant of their surroundings. If you see a bear in your community, call the Kentville Department of Natural Resources office during regular business hours at 902-679-6097. After hours, you can reach the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-565-2224.
