BRIDGETOWN, N.S. - Annapolis District RCMP didn’t have time to slow down Sept. 17 to 24. Things just kept happening, including cows in a cemetery, accidents, parties, break-ins, thefts, and even a slashed tire.
Following are highlights from Sept. 17 to 22.
Sept. 17, 2018
-- In Bear River, a caller reported finding a military flare and placed it in the back of his truck. RCMP advised him to remain where he was and they would pick up the flare. RCMP seized the flare and secured it and passed it on to a military member.
-- An unwanted male was reported at the Middleton skate park. The male was swearing at the young kids and refused to leave. Upon RCMP arrival, he was cordially escorted out of the park and given a Protection of Property Act order forbidding him to return
-- A revoked driver was stopped while driving his vehicle in Middleton. He was issued a ticket, his vehicle was towed, and he will appear in court in October.
-- The RCMP responded to a workplace accident in Cornwallis. A worker got trapped behind a backhoe. The lever broke off and the machine pushed him back against the window. Another co-worker came to the rescue and turned the machine off before serious injury resulted. The worker was treated at the hospital and released.
-- Suspicious youth were reported in Bridgetown. A caller stated the youth were between 10 and 15 years old and were using profanity. The RCMP made a patrol but the youth were gone. It was determined a fight had just occurred between youth. The RCMP are still investigating.
Sept. 18, 2018
-- RCMP responded to a theft of tires in Lawrencetown. The complainant stated he had a set of tires with rims on them for sale on his front lawn and sometime overnight someone took them. RCMP advised him although he had good intentions in hoping people would be honest, best not to leave items for sale unattended on the lawn. RCMP are requesting the public if they have any information on these tires, to contact the Annapolis District RCMP.
-- Ghostly cows were reported wandering through the cemetery in Middleton. The RCMP responded but the cows were gone. Maybe they were just “steaking” out the area for Halloween.
Sept. 19, 2018
-- In Cornwallis Park a caller reported while at the YMCA one of her tires was slashed. RCMP are still investigating but requesting the public with any info on this damage to contact the Annapolis District RCMP.
-- A vehicle collision in New Albany required fire, EHS and the RCMP to respond. The young driver hit the ditch, lost control, rolled the vehicle, and landed on the roof. The officer believed speed to be a contributing factor. Luckily, the driver was uninjured.
Sept. 20, 2018
-- A break-and-enter into the James House Museum in Bridgetown was reported. Several items were taken. RCMP are requesting any members of the public with any information on this break-in, to contact the Annapolis District RCMP.
-- RCMP are reminding the public that to drive a motorcycle, you need a motorcycle license! That was the lesson learned by a motorcyclist when he received a ticket for $295 for operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle license.
Sept. 21, 2018
-- A vehicle struck the Round Hill Community Hall causing damages. An RCMP officer located suspect and they were charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
-- RCMP responded to suspicious males in Wilmot. A caller reported the two males in their 20s with flashlights, were checking the car doors at Team Auto. They eventually got a in a red car and left. RCMP are requesting the public if anyone has any information on this, to please contact Annapolis District RCMP.
Sept. 22, 2018
-- RCMP made patrols in Deep Brook in response to a call concerning minors drinking and doing drugs. The RCMP attended the residence to find out it was a family party with 10 teens being supervised by adults. The officer took the time to speak to the kids and there was no sign of alcohol or drugs.
-- RCMP headed to Lawrencetown to respond to a call about a loud party. RCMP attended the home and requested the homeowner move the party inside and turn the music down. The homeowner agreed and music was adjusted to a normal level.
