KENTVILLE – A Kentville man is facing charges after allegedly backing his car into a bylaw officer who’d just assigned it a parking ticket.

The Kentville bylaw enforcement officer was writing a parking ticket at a vehicle Oct. 19 and was still standing by it as its owner returned.

A Kentville Police Service release alleges the owner then “got in his vehicle, ignoring verbal direction from the officer, and proceeded to back into the by-law officer, striking him.”

It also alleges the accused then drove away from the scene.

The bylaw officer sustained minor injuries during the alleged incident, but police confirm he did not require medical assistance.

A 41-year-old Kentville man has been charged with assault with a weapon and will appear in Kentville court on Dec. 18.
