Kentville woman dies in two-vehicle collision on Highway 12

A collision between two vehicles on Highway 12 in Aldersville Saturday has claimed a 71-year-old woman's life.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a driver of a Chrysler sedan was attempting to pass other vehicles on Highway 12 when it struck an oncoming Volkswagen, RCMP said in a news release. 

The driver of the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by LifeFlight with serious injuries. The passenger, a 71-year-old woman from Kentville, died at the scene.

The driver and lone occupant of the Chrysler was taken to hospital with injuries. 

The highway was closed for several hours while a RCMP collision reconstructionist was on scene and re-opened at 11 p.m. 

The investigation is ongoing.
