NEW MINAS, N.S. — The RCMP have arrested and charged an Auburn man who gave blood alcohol readings four times the legal limit.
According to a news release issued by the Nova Scotia RCMP on March 18, while on patrol on Highway 101 near New Minas this past weekend, Southwest Nova RCMP Traffic Services encountered a car driving erratically in an eastbound direction.
The RCMP member pulled the vehicle over and the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man from Auburn, displayed signs of impairment.
He was arrested and consented to providing breath samples that revealed readings four times the legal limit.
“Thankfully we do not often see impaired readings this high,” said Cpl. Michael Carter of Southwest Nova Traffic Services. “Removing this driver from the road greatly enhanced public safety this past weekend.”
The driver was later released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on April 23 on charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80 mg.
