WOLFVILLE -- Wolfville could get a new library if a study finds its current building cannot be expanded to make room for more library space.

The Annapolis Valley Regional Library and Town of Wolfville are launching a study to determine what changes are needed at the town’s library. According to a release, the study will consider the need for additional library space, whether changes would mean renovations or a new location, program and service improvements, possible partnerships, costs and funding strategies.

The Wolfville Memorial Library currently resides within the town’s historic train station on Elm Avenue, which was renovated to accommodate the change in 1993.

The town will also form a Working Committee of Town to manage the study alongside library staff and volunteers with expertise in library planning, all of whom will report to Wolfville Town Council and the AVRL board.

A non-stakeholder review group comprised of 12 to 15 Wolfville residents will also be formed to review and comment on the planning process. All Wolfville residents are eligible to apply to partake in the review group and can apply online at www.valleylibrary.ca by 4 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The study is expected to be completed within six to eight months.
