Weymouth man charged with aggravated assault alleged stabbing in North Kentville

NORTH KENTVILLE, N.S. – A Weymouth, Digby County, man has been charged with Aggravated Assault following an alleged stabbing in North Kentville on Feb. 6.

According to an RCMP media release, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing inside a home on Charles St. in North Kentville. The 21-year-old male victim was located inside the residence with serious but non life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by EHS.

Colton Leigh Thibault, 23 years old, of Weymouth, was arrested outside the residence without incident and was brought to the New Minas RCMP detachment, where he allegedly assaulted two police officers, according to the RCMP. 

Thibault has been charged with:

• Aggravated Assault

• Two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer

• Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Breach of Probation

Thibault and the 21-year-old male victim are known to each other, the RCMP say. 

Thibault appeared in Kentville Provincial Court the morning of Feb. 7. He was released on conditions and will be appearing in Kentville Provincial Court on March 21 at 9:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing by the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit.
