INGLEWOOD, NS - Firefighters from Bridgetown, Annapolis Royal, Lawrencetown, and Middleton were fighting a stubborn house fire on Inglewood Road near Bridgetown late Sunday evening and into Monday morning.
RCMP, EHS, and Nova Scotia Power were also on the scene but there appeared to be no injuries and no reason to believe the fire was suspicious. The call came in to Bridgetown fire at 9:52 p.m. June 3.
Flames could be seen coming through the roof and from the eaves with Lawrencetown’s aerial truck trying to get water on it. Huge clouds of smoke could be seen a kilometer away.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus fought the fire from inside.
Water was being drawn from a nearby hydrant to feed the aerial truck while water was shuttled in to charge hand lines. A piece of yellow tape stretched across the road at the north end of the scene. The house owner could be seen near the residence watching the firefighters’ progress. His dog was tied up at a neighbouring property.
A witness at the scene, the homeowner’s brother, said the man would stay with him.
Firefighters were still on the scene at 12:30 a.m. Monday.
