NORTH KENTVILLE – Two North Kentville residents are facing a slew of charges following a police search at a home on Scott Drive.
The search, conducted Oct. 5 by members of the Kings District RCMP and Valley Integrated Street Crime Unit (SCEU), was launched in response to an ongoing investigation following a break-in that occurred at a Canning business Oct. 3.
“Restricted handguns were stolen during the break-in. The handguns, along with numerous long guns, cocaine, cannabis, and a large amount of cash were recovered by police during the search,” said Kings District RCMP Const. Kelli Gaudet in a press release issued Oct. 11.
North Kentville residents Kyle Michael Joseph Markle, 21, and 19-year-old Samantha Hope Collins must answer to charges of: possessing cocaine and cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a long gun and handguns without a license, possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition without having authorization or a license to do so and possessing a firearm knowing the serial number on it had been defaced.
Markle also stands accused of breaking into a business and stealing a firearm.
The duo is scheduled to return to Kentville provincial court Nov. 7. None of the charges have been proven in court.
RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team is assisting with the investigation. Valley Integrated SCEU is comprised of members of the Kentville Police Service and Kings District RCMP.
