WINDSOR, N.S. — As driving wind and rain beat down Oct. 17, firefighters and first responders made their way to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 101.

The accident, which involved a Dodge Ram pick-up truck and a passenger car, occurred near Exit 6, downtown Windsor, around 12:30 p.m.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the pick-up truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP Cpl. Luc Côté, with the Windsor town detachment, said in an interview around 4 p.m. that an RCMP collision analyst was still on scene investigating.

As such, Highway 101 between exit 5A and Exit 6 remains closed to traffic, with motorists being diverted through town, as the investigation continues.

Côté said they hope to reopen the road to traffic over suppertime.
