WINDSOR, N.S. — Four people were transported to hospital following a head-on collision on Wentworth Road Aug. 28.

Cpl. Chris Campbell, of the Windsor rural RCMP detachment, said he came upon the accident, which involved two smaller-sized sedans, around 1:30 p.m. while he was en route to another call.

“Speed and driver error appear to have been contributing factors to the collision,” said Campbell, in an email interview.

The Wentworth Creek accident involved five individuals, with four being transported to the Hants Community Hospital for assessment and treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Campbell said there was no entrapment but airbags were deployed on both vehicles.

Brooklyn and Windsor fire departments also responded to the emergency call. The road was closed to traffic for approximately an hour.

Campbell said two summary offence tickets were issued – “one for driving left of (a) double solid line and one for failing to obey a traffic sign, to the driver of one of the vehicles, who is a young person.”

There were two passengers in the vehicle with the young driver.

Campbell said the RCMP would like to remind motorists to always wear a seatbelt and to follow speed limits.

“Speed significantly reduces your ability to react to situations.”
