LAWRENCETOWN, N.S. — Traffic was slowed down in Lawrencetown over the noon hour Aug. 21 when an SUV turning left onto Main Street from Lawrencetown Lane hit a utility pole on the north side of the intersection.

Police, fire, and paramedics were on the scene but the driver appeared to be okay. After being assessed by EHS he was taken home by his wife who arrived in another vehicle, RCMP said.

Const. Cheryl Ponee described the accident as a medical incident.

There appeared to be no damage to the utility pole and minor damage to the front passenger side to the SUV.

Behind the SUV on Lawrencetown Lane was a UPS delivery van. The driver stopped and with Lawrencetown Fire Chief Mike Stoddart directed traffic around the crash.

The scene was cleared up within 45 minutes.
