Cornelis “Keith” Meerman, 82 of Wolfville passed away on Saturday February 10, 2018. Keith was born in Heusden, The Netherlands in 1936 and immigrated to Canada in 1956. Many people will remember Keith, and his tobacco pipe, from the years that he owned Meermans Beehive in Wolfville. Keith was a 35 year veteran of the Wolfville Fire Department, a 40 year member of the Wolfville Lions Club and a prominent member of the Wolfville Baptist Church. He was recognized for his volunteer work and was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Metal for volunteer work within Nova Scotia and Humanitarian work in Cuba. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Meerman; brother Jan (Annie); his presence will also be missed by his five sons Lawrence (Sheila); Bill (Marybeth); Repko (Cheryl); Stephen (Laurel); Arthur and many grandchildren. A Funeral Service was held on February 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Baptist Church, 487 Main Street, Wolfville, with reception following. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
