Donna Haley — Kentville

Donna Haley
HALEY, Donna Louise, age 67, of Morden, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Louise (Hutt) Haley. In her youth, Donna was a talented figure skater and shared a love of music and square dancing with her parents and sisters. She married (Glen Johnson) and together they raised their four children in Berwick. Donna was a caretaker of many, young and old, most of her life. She cared for many children in her home when her own children were young, and was an avid volunteer for many school, band, hockey, and dance groups. She worked as an office administrator for many doctors over the years, as well as sold a line of clothing on evenings and weekends. Donna loved to spend time by the ocean, taking in the waves, sunsets and the moon. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. More often than not, she could be found whistling a tune in the kitchen while making meatballs or goulash, or baking cookies and pies. She welcomed anyone in her home for a hot cup of coffee or tea and was always ready to crack the next joke and share a laugh. In her later years, Donna became a grandmother. She absolutely treasured every moment she got to be “Nanny” and enjoyed many sleepovers, walks, bonfires, songs and stories with her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving partner, Dale Starratt; two daughters, Julie Johnson (Allan Upshall), Berwick; Jill Johnson (Peter Ells), Whitecourt, AB; two sons, Scott Johnson (Becky Jeppesen), Morden; Adam Johnson (Jennifer), Viewmount; two step-sons, Mark Starratt (Kathy), Cole Harbour; Jeffrey Starratt (Kathy), Cambridge, ON; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Wyatt, Benjamin, Cabella, Carley, Josh, Jacob, Victoria; three sisters, Debbie Hayden (Sam), Lake George; Cindy Haley Robichaud (Jay), New Minas; Sharon Long (Gerald), Port Williams; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. We would graciously like to thank the Valley Regional Hospital staff, VON, and all who came to visit her. Cremation has taken place, a private graveside service will be held in Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berwick School Breakfast Program or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
