Eric Boyd

Eric Boyd
Boyd, Eric Burton - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Eric Boyd, Bedford (formerly of Windsor), on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at the age of 89. Born in Mapleton (Three Mile Plains), he was the son of the late Burton and Grace (King) Boyd. After attending local schools, he worked briefly with his father building houses, and later delivering milk for McKenzie’s Creamery, before beginning his career in the grocery business, first with IGA and for 25 plus years as the popular Manager of the Windsor Sobeys Store. Eric loved people and made friends with people of all ages wherever he went. Together with his beloved wife, Margaret (Smith), he raised a family of 8 children in whom he had great pride, filling their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren with laughter, wisdom, kindness, wit, faith and love. Margaret died in 2003, but love was kindled again when Eric met Mattie Fowler (Densmore) whom he married in 2006. Over the next 12 years he became a treasured part of her family, showing them the same love and acceptance. Eric had a deep faith and was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church for over 70 years. He found great meaning and enjoyment in serving as a Deacon and choir member. Eric was predeceased by his parents; wife, Margaret; sons, Rev. Michael and Reg; step-son Randy Fowler; siblings, Gordon, Harold, Amy Lockhart, Patsy Lunn, and Susie Greenough; as well as several loved brothers-in law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Mattie; sons, Rev. John (Debbie), Halifax; Barry (Krista), Avonport; and Jim, Belleville, ON; daughters, Anne (Ron) Huestis, Bedford; Carolyn (Bill) Armstrong, Avonport; and Florence (David) Bartol, Bedford; sisters, Lillian Hergett, Windsor; Margie (Lou) Nowlan, Summerside; and Blair (Karen), Aurora, Ont.; step-daughters, Annette (Roy) Falconer, Bedford; Kimberly (Tim) Burns, Upper Kennetcook; Paula (Randy) MacPhee, Gore; and step daughter-in-law, Sylvia Fowler, Upper Sackville; extended family, Bonnie (Lewis) White, North Noel Road and Walter (Eleanor) Roulston, Upper Rawdon; 13 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, all deeply loved and never forgotten. Cremation has taken place under the auspices of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0, where visitation took place from 3 to 5:15 pm on Tuesday, December 4. A Memorial Service took place at Windsor Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, officiated by Rev. Rob Heffernan and Rev. Marlene Knowles. Family flowers only.
