Herman States
States, Herman Havelock, 83, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Monday, March18, 2019 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on April 14, 1935 in Windsor, he was the son of the late George and Edith (Upshaw) States. Surviving are his wife, the former Paula “Polly” Atwell; daughters, Joyce Atwell, Three Mile Plains; Carmella Atwell, Toronto; Leona (David) Atwell, Ste. Croix; sons, Wayne (Margie) Sampson, Kentville; Fabian (Robin) Atwell, Sackville; Travis (Judy) Atwell, Windsor; Troy Atwell, Windsor; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Myrtle “Dibbie” States, Toronto; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Margaret “Girlie” Johnson; brother, Elias “Lydie” States; two grandsons, Dimitri Atwell and Shane Harvey. The family would like to thank the emergency staff at the Hants Community Hospital and Doctor Tim Matheson for all they did for their dad. There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of life service was held 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. Interment will be at a later date in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Donations in memory may be made to the Windsor Plains Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
