Leonard Chase — Berwick

Leonard Chase
Leonard Eaton Chase - age 90, of Centreville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Port Williams, he was a son of the late George A. and Almena (Cogswell) Chase. Leonard attended MacDonald College at McGill University in Quebec. After an initial career in farming, he became the owner and operator of Rockwell’s Home Hardware, Kentville, where he was well known for his good humour and his congenial service. He loved his local community and also contributed through volunteer work, including the local chapter of the Canadian Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of Canada and the Canard United Church. He is survived by his sons, Bruce (Karen, step-son, Benjamin), Mahone Bay; Brian, Vancouver, British Columbia; Douglas (Robyn), Alma, Ontario and two granddaughters, Hayley and Ella Chase. He was predeceased by his wife, Verna (Stronach). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A memorial service in celebration of Leonard’s life, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Parkinson Canada or the charity of your choice.
