Lila Folker — Kentville
Lila Delphine Folker - 87, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of Kentville, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Thorne) DeAdder. Lila was married to her late husband, Burton in 1948 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville where she was a long time member and was involved with the CWL. In her early years, she had been employed with Acadia Bus Lines, T.P. Calkin Limited, and Cornwallis Motors. Lila was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by a son, Gary (Helen), Markham, Ontario; two brothers, Bernard and Burton; four sisters, Anna, Barbara, Doreen and Betty; son-in-law, Clifford Hill; four grandchildren, Evan and Kara Hill, Michael and Adam Folker. She was predeceased by her husband, Burton; a daughter, Nola (Folker) Hill; two sisters, Lynn and Jean; two brothers, Frederick Jr. “Sonny” and Wayne. Visitation was held from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 with prayers at 8:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson and Father Gerald Saulnier officiating. Burial took place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Catholic Women’s League or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
