Myrtis Bennett
Myrtis Marie Bennett – 90, of Kentville, formerly of Habitant, Kings County, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Canning, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Cora (Huntley) Crandall. She enjoyed working as a housekeeper and was later employed with the Kings County Registry Office and with Campbell Soup Canada, from where she retired. She was a Life member of the Canning United Baptist Church, a member of the Canning Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 50 years, and volunteered with the Valley Regional Hospital and Evergreen Home for Special Care. She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Pierrette), Ottawa; Larry (Linda), Fredericton; a sister, Joan Crandall, Halifax; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; special friend, Frank Moore. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Bennett; an infant son, Wayne; two sisters, Marion Crandall and Betty (Cassidy) Lockwood. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 Reverend Thelma McLeod and Reverend Donald Rafuse officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program or the charity of your choice.
