Pauline Minard

Pauline Minard
MINARD, Pauline Joyce – Lawrencetown/Clarence, Annapolis County. Our treasured mother and grandmother passed away on July 12, 2018, two days after her 91st birthday. Born on July 10, 1927, she was the eldest daughter of the late Aubrey and Lillian Smith. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Aubrey, son Phillip, as well as siblings Roland, Marilyn (Tufts), and Wallace, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She leaves behind her daughters, Dianne Minard, and Betty (Gordon) Foster. She will be dearly missed by her only grandchildren who were especially close to her heart – Jillian Foster (Tyler Marston and his daughter, Kylie) and Samuel Foster. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Reid, and brother, Rodney (Kay) Smith; sisters-in-law, Edna Smith and Myrna Cormier; brother-in-law, Newton Minard; many nieces and nephews. Mom often talked about her time spent as a ‘Nanny’ for a family in Great Neck, New York where she took care of three young girls from 1949 to early 1952. Mom spent the majority of her life on the farm in Clarence, and although it wasn’t her ‘cup of tea’, she did many outdoor jobs, which were definitely outside her comfort zone. Mom was a long-standing member of the Clarence United Baptist Church, a Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society, and volunteered with various community organizations, preferring to work in the background, not front and center. ‘Gram’ thoroughly enjoyed her role as a grandmother and in the early years, often travelled to Lower Sackville first to baby-sit and later to attend the children’s special events. We will miss her kind and gentle nature. We wish to express a special thank you to the staff at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and for keeping Mom comfortable in her final days. The funeral service was held at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 902-825-3448, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 2 p.m, officiated by Rev. Eugene Foster. Interment took place in the Fairview Cemetery in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory can be to the Lawrencetown Volunteer Fire Department or the Fairview Cemetery Fund. On-line condolences can be made by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
