Roley Phillips
Roley Gordon Phillips of Haliburton Place, passed away on November 15,2018. Born in Sweet’s Corner, November 1, 1920, he was the son of the late Murray and Minnie (Wile) Phillips. He was a long time employee of the Fundy Gypsum Company and retired in 1982 as the company’s electrical Supervisor. He was a member and elder of Sweet’s Corner United Church and was involved with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed several hobbies, including harness racing at the Halifax Commons, Windsor Track and Sackville Downs. He also loved fishing, golfing, bowling and carving. He is survived by his children, Carole Ettinger of Lakeside; Paulette Phillips of Montreal; Beverley (Wayne) Shanks of Upper Falmouth; Chris (Jim Barker) of Poplar Grove; Mark (Kathy) Phillips of Gypsum Mines; son-in-law Steven Frizzell (Jeannie Rogers) of Gypsum Mines; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Roley was predeceased by his wife of 78 years in January 2018, Beulah (Cochrane); daughter, Lorraine Frizzell; son-in-law, Garth Ettinger; brothers, Scott, Harley and Owen. Special thanks to the staff of Haliburton Place for the wonderful care they extended to both Dad and Mom. Cremation has taken place. No funeral by request. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook, NS.
