The Avon View Avalanche were scheduled to play in Kingston against West Kings Jan. 19 and were hoping to improve their 2017-18 Valley High School Girls Hockey League record to 11-0-0.

They had won their 10th straight game of the season in Berwick on Jan. 12 when they shut out the 5-3-0 Central Kings Gators 3-0.

It was the Gators who gave the Avalanche their biggest scare of the season from maintaining a perfect slate when they narrowly lost to Avon View 3-2 in mid-December.

Goal scorers in the Avalanche’s Jan. 12 bout were Haley Verge, Brittany Poole and Savannah Hart.

If they were able to defeat the 6-2-0 West Kings on the road — a team they defeated in Windsor just prior to the Christmas break — they will then look to go to 12-0-0 when they travel to Middleton on Jan. 31.
