CJ Washington is back with the Halifax Hurricanes.
The six-foot-seven power forward was a dominant force underneath for the NBL Canada team for two seasons. He scored 1,004 points combined during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons with the Hurricanes and averaged nearly 7.5 rebounds per game.
He sat out last season to recover from knee surgery.
“It’s a great story to be able to have CJ Washington back in a Halifax uniform,” Hurricanes head coach Mike Leslie said in a news release.
“He has worked hard to overcome a serious knee injury and get his basketball skills back in form for the upcoming season. Prior to his injury, CJ was one of the premiere big men in the league with the ability to score inside and from the perimeter. It’s been a long road back but when healthy, CJ can dominate a game inside.”
He’s the second player signed to a contract this week who played during the same time span.
Six-foot-two guard Ta’Quan Zimmerman rejoined Halifax after briefly playing for the Cape Breton Highlanders last season.
Zimmerman was named the league’s sixth man of the year award winner in his last stint with the Hurricanes in 2018.
